Conidia:

  1. It is a fungus's asexual, non-motile spore.
  2. Asexual chlamydospore or chlamydoconidium is other name for it.
  3. They are produced by the mitotic division of cells.
  4. Genetically the two newly formed haploid cells are identical to their haploid parents.
  5. If the conditions are right, they can grow into new creatures and aid in biological dispersal.
  6. Example - Penicillium and Ascomycetes reproduce asexually through the formation of conidia.
