Open in App
Solution

Instructions:
  • Give the definition of duns (1 mark)
  • Explain how the duns are formed in 3 steps (2 marks)

Solution:
Duns are flat-bottom structured valleys that are formed between the Shivalik hill and the lesser himalayas.

Duns are formed in 3 steps:
  • First step: The accumulation of river water over an obstacle, such as a mountain.
  • Second step: The deposition of sediments such as thick gravel and alluvial soil at the bottom of the river water.
  • Third step: The outflow of the river water from the weak eroded region of the obstacle.
