Transportation of molecules takes place across the cell membrane for the transfer of a molecule from one cell to the other cell.
The transportation can be of three types:
Simple diffusion:
Simple diffusion do not require any kind of ATP molecule for the transfer of material across the membrane.
In simple diffusion the molecules are transported from there higher concentration to their lower concentration.
Facilitated diffusion:
Facilitated diffusion do not require any kind of ATP as well.
In facilitated diffusion passive movement of molecules occur from there higher concentration to lower concentration.
Facilitated diffusion occur in the presence of specialised protein channels.
These specialised protein channels allow only some specific molecules and ions to pass through it.
Osmosis:
Osmosis is also like simple diffusion.
In osmosis the transfer of molecules occurs from higher concentration to lower concentration across a semipermeable or selectively permeable plasma membrane.
