Neurons:
Neurons or nerve cells are the cells that transmit signals from one part of the body to the other.
Depending upon their function neurons can be of three types:
Sensory neurons:
The neurons that carry sensations from the body to the brain are called sensory neurons.
These are also called as the afferent neurons.
Firstly did take the sensation to the spinal cord and with the help of spinal cord sensations reaches the brain.
Motor neurons:
Once the sensory neurons bring the sensation from the body the brain sends command to the body with the help of motor neurons.
These nerves passes via the spinal cord and supplies the muscles to carry out motor functions.
Interneurons:
Interneurons coordinate between sensory and motor neurons.
These are found exclusively in the central nervous system and not in the peripheral areas.
