What are the 3 types of plant tissue?

Plant issue can be classified into three types:

  • Dermal tissue:
  1. Dermal tissue forms the thin layer of cell covering the soft parts of the plant.
  2. This tissue system protects the soft tissues of the plants and also controls interaction of the plant with its surroundings.
  3. The epidermis is an example of the dermal tissue that is usually single layered mainly covering the younger parts of the plant.
  • Vascular tissue:
  1. Vascular tissue comprises of xylem and phloem and these are the main transport systems of the plant.
  2. Their function is to transport the water and nutrients in all the parts of the plant.
  3. They mainly occur in the vascular bundles in all the plant organs.
  • Ground tissue:
  1. The tissues which are left other than the dermal and the vascular tissues are called the ground tissues.
  2. These tissues arises from the maddest am and it can be parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma.
  3. These cells carry out the basic metabolic functions.
