Parts of flower:

  1. A flower is a reproductive part of a plant that comprises four whorls i.e the calyx, corolla. stamen and pistil.

Stamen:

  1. The stamen is the third whorl of a flower and it is considered the male reproductive part of a flower.
  2. The stamen consists of the anther and a stalk called a filament.
  3. An anther is a place where the production and storage of pollen grains(male gamete cells) occurs.
  4. The filament holds up the anther.

Pistil:

  1. The pistil is the innermost or fourth whorl of a flower and it is considered the female reproductive part of a flower.
  2. The pistil consists of a stigma, style and ovary.
  3. The stigma is the sticky portion of a pistil that is modified for the reception of pollen grains.
  4. The style is an elongated part through which a pollen tube is developed for the transfer of pollen grain from the stigma to the ovary.
  5. The ovary is a site of fertilization and later on, it develops into a fruit.
