Agriculture is one of the most widely practiced professions in the world.
It is mostly reliant on the state of the land, climatic conditions, and irrigation services provided.
Various forms of agriculture followed by Indian farmers:
Commercial Agriculture: It is a process of growing and cultivating crops that are intended to sell and export in order to get profit in the market.
Dry farming: It is a process of cultivation of crops in dry land (less than 50 cm precipitation) with very limited moisture content.
Extensive Agriculture: In this process , agriculture implements less amount of labor, fertilizers, and a small area of agricultural land.
Intensive Agriculture: In contrast to extensive farming, intensive farming employs a larger amount of labor, fertilizers, and large agricultural land.
Plantation Agriculture: In this type of agriculture process, agricultural land is used to grow and cultivate only a single crop for the entire year.
Subsistence farming: In this type of agriculture, the crop is cultivated along with raising the farmer and his family, leaving no surplus for trade.
Shifting Agriculture: In this type of farming, the plot is used to cultivate crops by a single person, and then it is abandoned and this plot is again used by another farmer to grow and cultivate crops.
Terrace Agriculture: Terrace a land that is maintained in the form of steps in a hilly sloped plane. It is also called terracing.
Wet farming: It is a type of farming in which the agricultural practices use the rain. It is employed in places of high rainfall above 200 centimeters.
