Flowering plants:

  1. They are defined as plants that bear flowers and fruits.
  2. They are classified into two i.e. monocots and dicots based on the number of cotyledons they produce.

Monocots:

  1. Monocotyledons or Monocots are a group of flowering plants that possess one cotyledon.
  2. They have petals arranged in multiple of three i.e. trimerous
  3. They possess fibrous roots.
  4. Veins of the leaf are arranged in a parallel-like pattern.
  5. They include grass plants and grass-like flowering plants.
  6. Other examples include lilies, orchids, etc.

Dicots:

  1. Dicotyledon or Dicots are a group of flowering plants that has two cotyledon present.
  2. They have petals arranged in multiples of four(tetramerous) or five (pentamerous).
  3. They possess tap roots
  4. Veins of the leaf are arranged in net-like or reticulate patterns.
  5. Examples: Brinjal, tomato, mulberry, etc.
