Organic compounds are the class of chemical compounds that are mainly obtained from living sources like Coal and Petroleum. It mainly contains Carbon atoms bonded with Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, etc may be present.
These are also called hydrocarbons.
Types of Organic compounds:
These are mainly classified into Cyclic and Acyclic Hydrocarbons
Cyclic Hydrocarbon:
They contain a closed chain of carbon.
These are further classified into Alicyclic and Aromatic Hydrocarbon
Alicyclic Hydrocarbon: That contains only one cycle .eg cyclo butane, cyclo pentane, etc.
Aromatic Hydrocarbon: they contain hexagonal structure and alternate double bonds eg. Benzene.
Acyclic:
They contain the open chain of carbon. They are further classified into Saturated And Unsaturated Hydrocarbons.
Saturated Hydrocarbon: Hydrocarbons having only single Bonds eg Methane, Ethane, etc.
Unsaturated Hydrocarbon: Hydrocarbons having a double bond or a triple bond between two carbon atoms eg. Ethene, Ethyne, etc.
