Friction:
Friction is a resistive force that occurs when two bodies in contact move relative to one another.
Causes of friction:
- Adhesion between body surfaces: Adhesion is the molecular force that occurs when two materials come into close contact. Because there is an adhesion force between the surface of glass and water, when water is poured into a glass, it wets the surface of the glass.
- Surface roughness: When two rough surfaces come into contact with each other, they generate frictional force or an opposing force, which can sometimes be converted into heat.
- Body deformation: During motion, deformations in the body or the surface of the body in contact may cause friction.
