What do you mean by endosymbiosis? Which cell organelles are considered to be endosymbionts and why?
The Theory of endosymbiosis explains the semi-autonomous nature of chloroplast and mitochondria, as these two organelles have their own DNA and replicate independently of the cell.
According to this theory eukaryotes evolved through a process whereby different types of free-living prokaryotes became incorporated inside larger prokaryotic cells and eventually developed into mitochondria, chloroplasts, and possibly other organelles.
