Solution

Photosynthesis:

  1. It’s a biochemical process that can be seen in green plants.
  2. Through this process, plants produce their own food.
  3. Oxygen is the by-product of this process.
  4. Carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight are important factors for photosynthesis.
  5. During the light phase (light reaction) of photosynthesis, O2 evolved.

(i) This experiment shows that O2 evolved during photosynthesis.

(ii) Oxygen gas is evolved in this process.

Source of oxygen during photosynthesis:

  1. During the light phase of photosynthesis, H2O is split up and produces hydrogen and oxygen.
  2. The water also provides electrons to produce ATP (energy molecule).

(iii) H2O (water) is the source of oxygen during photosynthesis.

Hydrilla:

Hydrilla is a freshwater aquatic plant.

(iv) In this experiment Hydrilla plants (one kind of aquatic plant) are used.
