Solution

Sodium Carbonate

  • Sodium carbonate is an inorganic compound, also known as Soda ash.
  • The chemical formula of sodium carbonate is Na2CO3

Sodium Hydroxide

  • Sodium hydroxide is an inorganic base which is also known as caustic soda.
  • The chemical formula of sodium hydroxide is NaOH, widely used form the manufacture of products like soap, paper, pulp, cleaner etc.

Chemical Reaction

  • Sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide both are bases, so do not react with each other.
  • Hence, when they both are mixed, the bases simply get dissociated into its respective ions, i.e., Sodium carbonate gives Na+and CO32- ions and sodium hydroxide gives Na+ and OH- ions.
