  2. Fragmentation is a type of asexual reproduction.
  3. Here, a piece or a fragment of the body breaks off and develops into a new individual.
  4. The fragment contains the same genetic material as that of the parent body.
  5. Thus, it can develop as a completely new organism which is a clone of the parent.
  6. Fragmentation occurs in both plants and animals.
  7. Examples- fungi, sponges, worms, algae, hydra, etc.
