It is an ideal black body that absorbs all incident electromagnetic waves or radiation, regardless of the angle of incidence or frequency. As it absorbs all colours of light, it is named as black “body”.
The radiation emitted by the blackbody is known as blackbody radiation. In order to stay in thermal equilibrium, a black body must emit radiation at the same rate as it absorbs, and so it must also be a good emitter of radiation.
A perfect black body radiates all the heat that it absorbs.
Everybody absorbs some heat falling on it and also radiates heat to the surroundings.
A hypothetical body that absorbs all the heat falling on it is called a perfect black body.
For this body to be at the same temperature, that is for it to be in thermal equilibrium, it also needs to radiate the same energy.
It turns out that at a temperature, the radiation actually has a distribution.
The radiation is composed of an entire spectrum of wavelengths with a distribution.
Meaning that the radiating energy need not be of the same wavelength or frequency.
Different wavelengths have a different amounts of radiation.
Thie above points describe perfect black body radiation.
