Carbon dating is a method of using the amount of carbon 14 in the material to determine the age of old organic material.

Animal bodies or plants are made up of carbon atoms, they can absorb carbon from the atmosphere containing a certain amount of radioactive carbon-14.

After animal body or plants dies then the radioactive carbon-14 start to decay. From carbon dating methods scientists can detect when this body dies means the age of the body.
