Question

What is Circular Motion?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Circular motion is a movement of an object along the circumference of a circle or rotation along a circular path.
  2. It can be uniform, with constant angular rate of rotation and constant speed, or non-uniform with a changing rate of rotation
  3. The formula for the centripetal acceloeration in uniform circular motion can be written as :ar=v2R,
whereV is the velocity, ar is the centripetal acceleration, R is the radius of the circular path.
  4. The centripetal force is acting toward the centre of rotation.
  5. The force is given by F=Ma=MV2RwhereMismassofbody
  6. The velocity's direction is tangential to the motion.
