  1. Filtration is the process of separating solids from liquids using a filtration medium such as filter paper.
  2. The liquid that passes through the filter paper is called a filtrate and the solid left over from the filter paper is called the residue.
  3. The most common example of filtration, is making tea. While preparing tea, a filter or a sieve is used to separate tea leaves from the water.
