Elasticity

1. A property of a body by virtue of which a body tends to regain its original shape or size when external forces are removed is called elasticity.
2. Most solid materials exhibit elastic behavior.
3. If an object exceeds its elastic limit the object cannot recover its original size or shape.
4. Hooke's law for elasticity states that if $\frac{\mathrm{stress}}{\mathrm{strain}}=\mathrm{constant}$deformation is small, the stress in a body is proportional to the corresponding strain.
