What is meant by the magnetic effect of electric current? Who discovered it?
Hans Christian Oersted, a Danish chemist as well as physicist, discovered the magnetic effect of electric current in the year 1820. He carried out an experiment in which the electric current passing through a wire moved a magnet placed near it.
Magnetic effect of electric current:
In his experiment, Oersted observed that the movement of electric current in a particular conductor generates a magnetic field around the conductor. This phenomenon is called electromagnetism.
