Cell membrane :

  1. The semipermeable membrane surrounds a cell's cytoplasm. Also known as the cytomembrane.
  2. Lipids and proteins make up the majority of the cell membrane.
  3. Phospholipids are large lipids that form a bilayer with hydrophobic saturated hydrocarbon tails on the inside and polar heads on the outside.
  4. It is made up of both integral and peripheral proteins.
  5. The membrane also contains cholesterol.
