Acyl is a functional group and chemically represented as follows -CORAcetyl is a functional group and chemically represented as follows -CO(CH3)
The R group in acylation is attached to the Carbon atom and Oxygen is bonded with the double bonded Carbon atom.The methyl group in acetylation is attached to the Carbon atom and Oxygen is bonded with a double-bonded Carbon atom.
It may or may not contain any ethyl group.It always contains a methyl group.
The molecules undergo acylation.The molecules undergo acetylation.
Examples: The molecules that contain the acyl group are as follows: Acyl chloride, Amide, Aldehydes, etc.Examples: The molecules that contain the acyl group are as follows: Acetyl aldehyde, Acetic acid, Methyl acetate, etc.
