What is the difference between covalent bond and hydrogen bond?

Open in App
Solution

Covalent Bond

Hydrogen Bond

Covalent bonds are formed by sharing of electrons between the atoms.Hydrogen bonds are the type of attractive forces that is present between the two different molecules.
The bonds formed are the interatomic bonds. The bonds formed may be the intramolecular or intermolecular bonds.
The bonds are formed in between two atoms. The bonds are formed between two or more atoms of same or different molecules.
The bond strength may lie in the range from 100-110KJ/molThe bond strength may lie in the range from 5-50KJ/mol
It can be formed in between two atoms which have lesser electronegativity difference. It can be formed between Hydrogen and an electronegative atom such as Fluorine, Nitrogen, Oxygen.
