  2. It is made up of dense connective tissue.
  3. It differentiates into the cornea in the anterior part of the eye.
  4. It is mostly made up of collagen and elastic fibres.
  5. The sclera is also called the ‘white of the eye’.
  6. The other layers present beneath sclera are choroid and retina.

Function of sclera:

  1. Protect the eyes and maintain the shape of the eyeball.
  2. It also helps in controlling the movement of the eye.
