Question

What is the formula of rotational motion?

Open in App
Solution

Rotational motion:

Rotational motion on an object is defined as the motion of that object about a fixed axis in which the axis is fixed and the object moves around the axis in fixed circular paths.

The formula for rotation motion:

If a body executes rotational motion, the equations of motions are written as : ω=ω0+αt, θ=ω0t+1/2αt2, ω2=ω02+2αθ

Where ω= final angular velocity (rads-1), ω0= initial angular velocity (rads-1), θ= angular displacement (radians), and α=angular acceleration (rads-2).

Torqueinrotationalmotion=forcexperpendiculardistance from the axis of rotation τ=Fd, τ=FrSinθ

Powerofthetorque=Torquexangularvelocity, P=τω
