Oviduct:

  1. The oviduct is a long muscular tube that carries eggs from the ovary to the uterus.
  2. It is also called the fallopian tube.
  3. The fertilization occurs in the fallopian tube.

Functions of oviduct:

  1. They collect the ovulated ovum in the infundibulum which guides the egg into the oviduct.
  2. The site of fertilization.
  3. It transports the embryo to the uterus.

Ovary:

  1. Human females contain two ovaries located in the lower part of the abdomen.
  2. Ovaries produce egg or ova.
  3. Female sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone are also produced by ovaries.

Functions of ovary:

  1. In Ovaries, there are two functions, gametogenic and endocrine functions.
  2. A gametogenic function is the production and release of the ovum or egg, which is the female gamete (reproductive cell).
  3. And the endocrine function of the ovaries is the secretion of female sex hormones.
