Solution
Protonephridia:
A Protonephridia is a network of dead-end tubules connected to external openings.
The smallest branches of the network are capped by the cellular unit called a flame bulb.
These tubules excrete dilute fluids and function in osmoregulation.
Protonephridia is the flame bulb system of a planarian.
Found mostly in flatworms.
The function of Protonephridia:
Function mostly in water balance.
The wastes can diffuse directly from cells to the exterior because of the limited thickness of the organism.
They occur mainly in the phyla Platyhelminthes, Nemertea, Rotifera, and Chordata (lancelets).
It occurs in both coelomates and acoelomates.
