What is the law of pendulum?

Solution

Pendulum

pendulum, a body suspended from a fixed point so that it can swing back and forth under the influence of gravity. Pendulums are used to regulate the movement of clocks because the interval of time for each complete oscillation, called the period, is constant.

  1. The first law of simple pendulum or the law of isochronism: As the amplitude of the simple pendulum is very small the time period is not dependent on the amplitude.
  2. Second law or law of length: The time period of the simple pendulum is directly proportional to the square root of the length. The acceleration due to gravity, and time period remain constant. The time period is not dependent on the amplitude.
  3. Third law or law of mass: The time period of the simple pendulum is inversely proportional to the square root of the acceleration due to gravity, The length is constant and only dependent on the acceleration due to gravity,
    Timeperiod=2πLengthofthependulumaccelerationduetogravity
  4. The fourth law of mass: The time period of the oscillation is not dependent on the mass as the length is kept constant. The equation of the time period doesn't contain the term m.
