What is Troposphere?
Earth's atmosphere is divided into different layers based on the temperature profile. They are Troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and exosphere.
The troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere and is also where nearly all weather conditions take place.
The troposphere extends from the surface to 17 ~ 18 km near the equator and up to 10 km near high latitudes and poles. In the Troposphere, we experience all weather phenomena, and the temperature decreases with increasing altitude. This decreasing temperature is in the order of 6.5 degrees Celsius per km ( it will change with atmospheric conditions). Troposphere means “ region of mixing”, it is named so because of the vigorous convective air within the layer. 80 percentage of the mass of the atmosphere is in the Troposphere. The troposphere contains 99% of water vapor. The upper limit of the Troposphere is called the tropopause, where the temperature remains constant for a few km.
