  1. Venation is known as the system of arranging veins.
  2. The venation can be present in a leaf and a wing of an insect.
  3. Venation is sometimes known to be the arrangement of blood vessels in an animal.

Type of venation:

  1. Reticulate venation:
  • The veins are in the form of a network.
  • Leaves of dicotyledonous plants have reticulate venation.
  • Example - Tulsi leaves, hibiscus

2. Parallel venation:

  • The veins which are distributed in a parallel network are known as parallel distribution.
  • The movement of veins is parallel to each other.
  • Leaves of monocotyledonous plants have parallel venation.
  • Example - Grass, Oryza
