When an iron nail is placed in copper sulphate solution, we observe colour changes whereas when copper wire is placed in iron sulphate solution, we observe no change in colour. What is the reason behind this change in the test tube?
Iron is more reactive than copper.
Iron is more reactive than copper, thus displaces copper from its salt solution. Copper does not displace iron from its salt solution because it is less reactive than iron. In reactivity series, iron occupies a higher position than copper.
