Open in App
Solution

Choanocytes:

  1. Choanocytes are specialized cells with a single flagellum and a net-like collar of microvilli surrounding it.
  2. These are found in sponges (multicellular organisms with porous and perforated bodies) belonging to the Porifera phylum.
  3. Nutrients are taken into the sponge through the collars of the choanocytes.

Location:

Asconoid sponges have choanocytes dotting the surface of the spongocoel, while syconoid sponges have choanocytes dotting the radial canals.
