Solution

The correct option is D Vacuole
The vacuole is a membrane-bound space found in the cytoplasm. The membrane of the vacuole is called the tonoplast. It occupies 90% of space in a plant cell. It contains water, sap, excretory products and other materials (not useful to cells). It is generally absent in animal cells. If present at all, they are fewer and smaller.

Ribosomes are non-membrane bound organelles found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. They are commonly called the ‘protein factories’ of the cell. They are made up of rRNA (ribosomal RNA) and proteins.

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a membrane-bound network extending from the nuclear membrane to the plasma membrane. When ribosomes are found attached to the surface of the ER, it is called a rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and if there are no ribosome attached to it, it is called the smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER).

Mitochondria are commonly called the ‘powerhouse of the cell’. This is where energy in the form of ATP is synthesized. These are double membrane-bound organelles and are semi-autonomous as they have their own DNA (genetic material).
