Why are there 18 electrons in the third shell?
second and third periods can accommodate 8 and 18 electrons respectively. Since their outermost shells can contain only 8 electrons, there are only 8 elements in boththe periods.
so what is the sense of 2n square then?
and why there are 18 in the next group then?
The bohr's formula shows that the third shell should have 18 ELECTRONS whereas it is 2,8,8,18 why is it so???
Similarly, second and third periods can accommodate 8 and 18 electrons respectively. Since their outermost shells can contain only 8 electrons, there are only 8 elements in both the periods. -pllz explain this again.
i shall be thankful.
