Question

Why doesn't mass affect the period of a pendulum?

Open in App
Solution

Pendulum

  1. A pendulum is a body suspended from a fixed point so that it can swing back and forth under the influence of gravity.
  2. The time interval of a pendulum's complete back-and-forth movement is constant.
  3. Period of a pendulum is given by the equation, T=2πlg where l is the length of the string of pendulum and g is acceleration due to gravity.
  4. From the above equation, it is clear that mass doesn't effect the period of a pendulum
