Work out the formula for sulphur dioxide. (Valencies: S = 4; O = 2)

Sulphur dioxide is the chemical compound with a formula of SO₂.

We can find the formula by crossing the valency of constituent elements
Using criss-cross method we get, S2O4. Since the formula has a common factor of 2 hence when we divide the formula by 2 (common factor ) we get SO2.
