Action of concentrated Sulphuric acid on Carbon.

Open in App
Solution

Reaction between Conc. Sulphuric acid and Carbon:

  • Concentrated sulphuric acid reacts with non-metal to form their respective oxides.
  • When concentrated Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4) reacts with Carbon (C) , it will give Carbon dioxide gas (CO2), Water(H2O) & Sulphur dioxide gas (SO2) as a product.

Balanced chemical equation:

C(s)Carbon+2H2SO4(aq)SuphuricacidCO2(g)Carbondioxide+2H2O(l)water+2SO2(g)Suphurdioxide
