Solution

x=a+b+4 (Given)Thus, we have:a α y2 a=ky2 k is constant. ...(i)Now,b α 1y b=my m is another constant. ...(ii)Putting the values of (i) & (ii) in the given equation, we get:x=ky2+my+4 For y=2, x=18.Thus, we have:18=k22+m2+418=4k+m2+4 214-4k= m ...(iii)For y=1, x=-3.Thus, we have:-3=k12+m1+4 -7-k= m ...(iv)From (iii) & (iv), we get:214-4k=-7-k28-8k=-7-k35=7k k=5 From (iv), we get: -7-5=m m=-12Now,x=5y2-12y+4 Equation of variationx=542-124+4 y=4x=80-3+4 x=81
