Volume of HCl=20ml

Volume of NaOH=15ml

Step 2: Formula used :

Moles of HCl reacting with ammonia = (molesofHClabsorbed)(molesofNaOHsolutionrequired) ---------------------(1)

Step 3: Calculation of Moles of HCl

From eq (1) = (20x0.1x10-3)(15x0.1x10-3)

This will be equal to Moles ofNH3evolved which in turn gives moles of nitrogen in an organic compound.

Step 4: Calculating the weight of Nitrogen

Hence,

Weight of nitrogen in organic compound = 0.5x10-3x14.

We get,

=7x10-3g.

Step 5:Deriving Percentage of nitrogen

Percentage of nitrogen = (7x10-3)/(29.5x10-3)x100

=23.7%

Therefore, the percentage of nitrogen in the compound is23.7%
