Solution

Allotropes:

  1. Allotropes are any two or more different physical forms that an element can have.
  2. Allotropy can be seen in elements such as carbon, oxygen, phosphorus, tin, and sulfur.
  3. Oxygen has a number of allotropes like O1,O2,O3,O4etc.
  4. O2, or diatomic oxygen, is the most common allotrope of oxygen.
  5. It is a reactive paramagnetic molecule that is present in almost all aerobic organisms and is blue in color when it is liquid.
  6. O3 is another allotrope of oxygen. Both the solid and liquid forms of ozone are blue-black in color and have a strong odor.
  7. It is used to disinfect water, cleanse industrial wastes, and deodorize the air.
  8. Atomic oxygen, represented by the symbol O1, is extremely reactive because its single atoms have a tendency to quickly bind with nearby molecules.
  9. It exists naturally for a very short time on the surface of the earth.
  10. Oxozone, or the tetraoxygen molecule (O4), is another allotrope of oxygen.

Therefore, some allotropes of oxygen are O1,O2,O3 and O4
