Open in App
Solution

Calculation of a leap year

Leap year : A leap year has 366 number of days in total, and there is a difference of 4 between two consecutive leap years.

To calculate a leap year, divide the given year by 4, if it is completely divisible by 4, it is a leap year.

Examples:

  1. Check 2042 will be a leap year or not?

Now divide 2042 by 4, we get 2 as a remainder which means 2042 is not divisible by 4. Thus 2042 is not a leap year

2. Check 1996 will be a leap year or not?

Now divide 1996 by 4, we get 0 as a remainder which means 1996 is divisible by 4. Thus 1996 is a leap year

Hence, we can calculate leap year by dividing it by 4
