The Schools of Excellence and Model Schools Scheme was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu government in the presence of Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal on 5 September, 2022.
Delhi model school plan: The Tamil Nadu government inaugurated the Schools of Excellence and Model Schools Scheme, a plan which is majorly based on schools of Delhi. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, launched the scheme in the presence of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin.
A total of 26 Schools of Excellence and 15 Model Schools have been covered under the scheme for the initial phase. The schools have been given Tamil names, 'Thagaisal Palligal' and 'Mathiri Palligal', respectively.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu launched the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar memorial 'Puthumai Penn' (Modern Woman) Scheme, through which the government is planning to provide Rs 1,000 to girl students who have completed their education (class 6-12) in government schools and are pursuing higher education.
The state government had also stated in its 2022-2023 budget that Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme has now been modified as the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme.
In state-run schools, the government has upgraded the infrastructure which suits the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) regime, which is also known as the "Dravidian model." The model aims at bringing social justice and increasing women's empowerment.
The ratio of female students enrolled in government schools for higher education is quite low. The scheme has been put in place in order to increase the ratio level. The event was conducted at Bharathi Women's College, which is run by the state government.
