JoSAA Counselling 2022: For the first time, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will hold a virtual counselling session for its female candidates. The candidates will be appearing for the one-of-its-kind counselling session, along with their parents. The Institute has taken this step in order to encourage the female candidates who have cleared the JEE Advanced examination to stay in their IIT seats.
IIT Bombay special guidance session will be held in collaboration with the gender cell of IIT Bombay. According to the data released, this year there has been an amazing growth in the number of female candidates who have cleared JEE Advance. The institute wants to encourage more girls to join the institute. In the past few years, it has been noted that many female candidates do not attend IIT because the institute is far from their home.
This year, seven girls have made it to the top 100 JEE (Advanced) list. According to the data released, a total of 1,555, 538 candidates appeared for the examination, out of which 33,608 female candidates attempted the examination. 6,516 female candidates have cleared the examination.
The management has also increased the number of seats reserved for female candidates. Earlier, a total of 1534 seats were reserved for female candidates, whereas this year there are 1,567 supernumerary seats for female candidates.
