Home Science is a dynamic subject, which empowers students to achieve all-around development in different pursuits of life.
Home Science is a multidisciplinary field of study that deals with health and hygiene, nutrition, nursing, managing resources, cooking food, textile and garment designing, and other subjects concerned with a home and external environment.
NIOS senior secondary course syllabus for group B – Home Science has been designed to prepare students to learn the skills, to recognise their own strengths and weaknesses and to achieve their goals in their lives.
The syllabus for the senior secondary level – Home Science is divided into seven units and thirty-five chapters. Among which the first five units with twenty seven chapters are compulsory and the last two units with eight chapters are optional. The total duration of the lesson plan is 240 hours, which has been distributed according to the topics and subtopics. Apart from theory, 60 hours have been allotted for practical work.
