The gas released in photosynthesis is?

  • The gas released in the process of photosynthesis is oxygen.
  • Photosynthesis is the process by which plants synthesize food and transform light energy into chemical energy.
  • In the process, light energy is used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and other nutrients into oxygen and other organic compounds.
  • It is represented through the following equation:

    6CO2 + 6H20 + (energy) → C6H12O6 + 6O2

    • Photosynthesis takes place in that part of the plants known as Chloroplast, which contains Chlorophyll. Chloroplast is known as the nucleus of Photosynthesis.
    • There are both light-dependent and light-independent reactions in photosynthesis.
    • The light-independent cycle is known as the Calvin Cycle or C3 cycle, which creates glucose and oxygen as by-products.
    • Factors affecting photosynthesis are;
    1. Light
    2. Temperature
    3. Carbon dioxide and water
    • The mode of nutrition in which plants produce food by themselves is known as the autotrophic mode of nutrition.
