Phytoplankton produces oxygen like every other plant through the means of photosynthesis. In fact, most half of earth’s oxygen comes from oceanic phytoplankton.
Like the terrestrial plants, phytoplanktons are essential to aquatic life and a vital part of the oceanic food chain.
