What causes ocean acidification?

Ocean acidification is caused by carbon dioxide gas dissolving into the ocean. It lowers the water’s pH, making it more acidic. The main cause of high concentrations of carbon dioxide is due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal oil etc.

The increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will lead to more instances of ocean acidification.
