Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an assessment of an environmental policy which analyzes its impact with respect to environmental consequences of the plan, policy, or program.

It is a tool of environmental management forming a part of project approval and decision-making, helping government bodies in coming to a proper decision regarding environment protection.
