What is a tundra in geography?

Tundra is a type of biome where the tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and short growing seasons.

Lands of the tundra are covered with snow for much of the year, but summer brings bursts of wildflowers. Vegetation such as grass, sichens and lichens are better adapted to withstand tundra conditions.
