Who was the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal?

Karnam Malleswari was the first Indian woman to lift the Olympic medal in 2000.

The Indian weightlifter won the medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 in the 240 kg category. She lifted 110 kg in the “snatch” and 130 kg in the “clean and jerk” categories to win the medal.

She became the first weightlifter from India to win an Olympic medal. It was the only medal India received in the 2000 Sydney Olympic games.

She has also won major sports awards in India, including Arjuna Award in 1994, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 1999, and Padma Shri in 1999 for her remarkable contributions.
